Classical |
This class teaches postures (asanas) with an emphasis on proper alignment, breathing techniques, physical awareness, and relaxation practices. This class is moderately paced. Generally accessible to students of all ages and levels of strength and flexibility |
| Beginners | This yoga style focuses on gentle stretching, body alignment, and learning to breathe deeply while honoring your body’s needs in a compassionate manner, with emphasis on meditative awareness. This class is relatively slow paced and is excellent for students just beginning or returning to their yoga practice. Generally accessible to students of all ages and levels of strength and flexibility. |
| Ashtanga | Rooted in the Primary Series of Ashtanga yoga, this class offers a challenging sequence of yoga poses that flow into one another synchronizing each pose with the breath. This class is conducted in a moderately heated room and builds strength, flexibility, and concentration. Yoga experience helpful, but beginners are welcome and encouraged to join. |
| Vinyasa Flow | This class is a fusion of several yoga styles. It is an active class, emphasizing the development of strength, flexibility, balance, and grace through the used of postures synchronizing breath with movement. Class is conducted in a moderately heated room. Some yoga experience is helpful; beginners welcome. |
| Power Yoga | This vigorous class focuses on building core, arm, and overall body strength and endurance. The challenging series of postures is also geared toward development of balance and flexibility. Some yoga fitness experience is helpful. |
| Youth Yoga | Ages 6-14. Learning yoga at a young age helps produce more mature adults reducing stress from school and social life, cultivating a healthy body image, and bringing humor and lightness into each day. In this class youths have a safe place to quiet the mind, explore their emotions, and strengthen their body. Accessible to all levels of yoga experience. |
| Morning Flow | This class is a slower version of Vinyasa flow. The room is not heated. Accessible to all levels of yoga experience. |
| Meditation and Restorative Yoga | This class begins with sitting meditation using conscious breathing. A Restorative yoga practice ensues using bolsters and other supportive props to settle into relaxing poses. Both the Meditation and the Restorative yoga practices rejuvenate the nervous system and can help us learn to relax more deeply and completely. Accessible to all levels of yoga experience. |
| Optional Run and Mat Pilates | 30 minute optional run in Thornton Park, followed by 50 minutes of Pilates in the studio. A refreshing mind-body workout focusing on building strength, developing a strong core and an evenly conditioned body, and cultivating proper breathing technique. Feel free to join for the optional run before (all ability levels welcome) or just come for the Pilates portion of the class. It's a great combination of cardio and strength training.
