“For everyone, no matter what their age or level of expertise, the important issue in hatha yoga is not flexibility and the ability to do difficult postures, but awareness – awareness of body and breath. From this awareness comes control, and from control comes grace and beauty. Even postures approximated by beginning students can carry the germ of poise and elegance.”

Classical

This class teaches postures (asanas) with an emphasis on proper alignment, breathing techniques, physical awareness, and relaxation practices. This class is moderately paced. Generally accessible to students of all ages and levels of strength and flexibility

Beginners This yoga style focuses on gentle stretching, body alignment, and learning to breathe deeply while honoring your body’s needs in a compassionate manner, with emphasis on meditative awareness. This class is relatively slow paced and is excellent for students just beginning or returning to their yoga practice. Generally accessible to students of all ages and levels of strength and flexibility.
Vinyasa Flow This class is a fusion of several yoga styles. It is an active class, emphasizing the development of strength, flexibility, balance, and grace through the used of postures synchronizing breath with movement. Class is conducted in a moderately heated room. Some yoga experience is helpful; beginners welcome.
Kid's Yoga Ages 6-15. Learning yoga at a young age helps produce more mature adults reducing stress from school and social life, cultivating a healthy body image, and bringing humor and lightness into each day. In this class youths have a safe place to quiet the mind, explore their emotions, and strengthen their body. Parents are welcomed to join in! Accessible to all levels of yoga experience.
Yin Yoga A slower, more passive practice which promotes emotional well-being by focusing on joint as opposed to muscle movement.  Promotes relaxation and concentration through longer held poses (2-4 minutes).  This practice enhances the natural range of motion in joints, supports the organs and immune system, and down regulates the nervous system.  Some classes will also focus on restorative poses to nurture self and quiet the mind. Accessible to students of all ages and levels of strength, flexibility, and yoga experience.
Mat Pilates A refreshing mind-body workout focusing on building strength, developing a strong core and an evenly conditioned body, and cultivating proper breathing technique. Feel free to join for the optional run before the Monday class and after the Friday class (all ability levels welcome) or just come for the Pilates portion of the class.  It's a great combination of cardio and strength training.  Your first class is always FREE, so come join us!  For more information about Beth and her classes, please visit www.bethsmithpilates.com

The instructor offers modifications which help to make the poses appropriate for students at all levels- from beginners to advanced. Accessible to students of all ages and levels of strength, flexibility, and yoga experience.
